PART 1 GENERAL

1.04            SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

           

            A.            Hinged lip, hydraulic, recessed dockleveler to the following requirements:

 

                        1.            Nominal Size: (_____) wide x (_____) long.

 

                        2.            Capacity: (_____) lbs. per ANSI/ASME MH 14.1 1987.

 

                        3.            Service Range: (_____) inches above dock level and (_____) inches

                                    below dock level.

 

                        4.            Velocity Stop: Integral valve, capable of supporting rated capacity in

                                    drive-off situations.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

 

2.01            ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS

 

            A.            Model HK (_____) as manufactured by Kelley Dock Systems, Milwaukee, WI

 

2.02            EQUIPMENT

 

            A.            Curb angles: (optional) 8 pieces, 3 x 3 x 1/4 inch; to cover all exposed edges of pit                and adjacent forward dock edge.

 

            B.            Leveler

 

            1.            Ramp: 55,000 psi yield steel treadplate; reinforced with 50,000 psi yield                             steel beams.  Torsionally compliant ramp to allow twist of ramp to follow                           truck bed.  Four hinge pins at rear edge.  Lip hinge lugs welded directly to                                 forward end of deck and beams.  Open lip hinge construction to allow                            debris to fall through hinge.

 

            2.            Lip:  55,000 psi yield treadplate.  Hinge lugs welded to underside of lip;                                lug welds in same direction as deck beams. 

 

            3.            Subframe: 19 or 23 inches deep.  Rear portion equipped with four upright                         members to support ramp hinge.  Formed front angle member connected                                to rear portion with longitudinal members.  Two dock level support pads                             welded to formed angle.

                        4.            Dock Level Support:  Two support legs at forward end of ramp, designed                                               to rest on subframe support pads.  Legs to automatically retract when lip                                                 extends; also retractable by pull chain accessible from ramp dock; night                                         locks.

 

                        5.            Hydraulic System: Ramp powered by 4 inch diameter hydraulic cylinder                                                with 2 inch diameter rod.  Cylinder connected to subframe with rod                                           extending forward to upward and ramp.  Cylinder equipped with valve to                                                arrest free fall of ramp with full rated load on ramp.  Lip powered by 2                                         inch diameter cylinder.  Valves for sequencing and operating cylinders.                                              1.5 GPM pump.

 

                        6.            Motor and Controls: Hydraulic pump powered by 1 HP 230V/460V 3 Ć                                             motor, NEMA 12 control box; to contain motor starter, control                                                 transformer and push-button.  Dockleveler controlled by single push-                                          button.  Ramp equipped with mercury switch to sense down position of                                             ramp and lip for automatic recycling to dock level. 

 

                        7.            Finish: Shot cleaned and painted and baked with rust inhibiting paint.

 

PART 3 EXECUTION

 

3.01 PREPARATION

 

            A.            Provide curb angles for setting pit edges.  (optional)

 

3.02            INSTALLATION

 

            A.            Install in prepared pit in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

 

            B.            Adjust installed unit for operation as specified by Manufacturers.
